In her role as Director of Materials Management, Carol Elias collects, packs and organizes all medicine, equipment, instruments and supplies for our medical missions. Through her vast network of doctors, nurses and surgical supply companies Carol manages to get many items donated thereby reducing the cost of our missions. Carol graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Peoria, Illinois and has over 39 years experience in the field. She has worked in all facets of surgery including plastic surgery, open heart surgery, general surgery and orthopedic surgery. After nursing school, Carol moved to Honolulu, Hawaii were she took a 6 month operating room training course at The Queen's Medical Center. She worked & lived in Hawaii for 9 years. Moving to California in 1984, Carol worked for 6 months at the V.A. hospital in Long Beach before she found her true calling and joined the staff at Long Beach Medical Center in Long Beach. She again joined the Open Heart Team, but found her calling in the field of Orthopedic surgery. Carol received her Bachelor of Science Nursing in 2016. Carol has been part of the volunteer surgical teams to Africa, Romania, and Ecuador, and is looking forward to helping in the preparations of numerous other missions.
